School Counselor

My primary role as Lewiston's School Counselor is to serve Lewiston students in supporting their social and emotional needs.  I also support students in their academic success as well.  I teach K-6 in social and emotional character building and problem solving.  Students in 6-8 receive information on career and college planning and students in 9-12 receive more specific college/career readiness information and graduation planning.

I provide individual counseling for students struggling with issues at home or school.  Teachers, parents, other students, or the individual themselves may refer a student for counseling.  I’m happy to meet with any student who feels they could benefit from talking through problems and working towards solutions.  I can help students plan for their future and explore career and college possibilities.  I also run small groups for self-acceptance and leadership.

While I can provide brief solution-focused therapy, I am not a Licensed Mental Health Practitioner (LMHP).  I am able to meet with students for short counseling and problem solving sessions to help them manage feelings they may be dealing with inside or outside of school, specifically those that are impeding their learning in any way.  However, if a student has deeper rooted, long term, or specific mental health issues, I would refer them to a  LMHP in the area who can provide specific therapy that the school cannot provide.
