Let’s Build Lewiston’s Tomorrow, Together!
Let’s Build Lewiston’s Tomorrow, Together!
We are pleased to announce that we are launching a strategic planning initiative to guide our district’s future. In partnership with the Nebraska Association of School Boards (NASB), the completed five-year plan will define our shared mission, set goals, and keep our focus on what matters most—student success. Together, we’re working to ensure Lewiston remains strong, efficient, and student-centered for years to come.
Online surveys have already been completed by administrators, board members, and staff. Surveys were distributed to parents and business leaders on December 19. Student surveys will be distributed on January 12, and alumni surveys are anticipated for later in the winter. A link to the community survey, will remain open through January 28th.
To ensure community members have the opportunity to share ideas and input to inform the plan, a series of Community Engagement meetings will be held as follows:
-
Wednesday, January 7 at 6:30 pm at the Lewiston School Library (306 Tiger Avenue, Lewiston);
-
Wednesday, January 14 at 6:30 pm at the Virginia Legion (208 4th Street, Virginia);
-
Wednesday, January 21 at 6:30 pm at the Burchard Community Center (301 2nd Street, Burchard); and
-
Wednesday, January 28 at 6:00 pm at the Beatrice Public Library (100 N 16th Street, Beatrice).
Once all data is collected, the NASB Board Leadership Team will analyze results and organize them around guiding principles—key elements that reflect the structure and values of a high-performing school district. This analysis will lead to the creation of a Needs Assessment and Strategic Plan Framework that align our shared vision with actionable steps toward educational excellence.
Q: How will the Strategic Plan benefit students?
A: Our Strategic Plan will help us focus resources and energy on what matters most: creating a safe, supportive learning environment where every student has the opportunity to grow—both academically and personally. The plan will also help teachers and staff work together toward shared goals, ensuring that each student is challenged, supported, and prepared for whatever their futures may bring.
Q: Why is community input important?
A: Community involvement is vital to the process. Your input ensures that the district’s goals reflect the values, needs, and hopes of the individuals we serve. By completing a survey and/or attending a meeting, you can help shape the vision for our district’s future. When families, educators, and community members work together, our students benefit most.
Q: What can attendees expect at a community engagement meeting?
A: Each meeting will open with a welcome from district leaders and brief introduction of NASB staff. Following this, NASB staff will guide attendees in a discussion that includes brainstorming and opportunities to share thoughts and ideas. The feedback collected at these meetings helps build a vision for student success and strengthen our school-community partnerships.
Together, we can create a clear vision for Lewiston Consolidated Schools—one that helps every student learn, grow, and succeed.
